Award-winning Cuisine and Service
“Voted Best Restaurant in Connecticut by CT Magazine Readers Poll, 2006”
The historic Sherman Building, situated on the site of the house of New Haven’s first Mayor, Roger Sherman, the only American whose name appears on the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution now houses the award winning Union League Cafe.
Street level access to a private elevator takes you upstairs to the main function spaces. High ornate ceilings, wood paneling, a huge working fireplace, marble columns and a facade of windows overlooking Yale University in the Grand Ballroom Salon, provides an unparalleled old-world sophisticated atmosphere and serves as the perfect template for an elegant affair. Separated by murals of New Haven Harbor in the foyer, the Sherman Room is the perfect space for smaller intimate weddings and rehearsal dinners for lovers of fine dining with full privacy. The entire first floor main dining room and club room are available for larger celebrations.
Host your wedding, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, rehearsal dinner and other special occasions amidst the history, culture and culinary expertise of the Union League Cafe. It’s a distinctive venue that also offers a unique dining experience and will provide your entire party with a lifetime of wonderful memories.
